Swedish heat pump innovator, Aira, has officially debuted in the Italian market, solidifying its presence after acquiring the Italian contractors T5 Group earlier this year. Stockholm-based investment group Vargas facilitated Aira's European entry, introducing a pioneering monthly subscription model for direct-to-consumer heat pump services.
Aira's initial launch will focus on six regions – Lombardy, Piedmont, Lazio, Marche, Abruzzo, and Umbria. With the acquisition of T5, Aira Italy boasts a team of 150 professionals, including clean energy experts, technicians, and commercial staff. The company has ambitious plans to hire 4000 employees over the next decade, establishing Aira Academies across Italy to train clean energy experts.
In collaboration with Italian energy company Dolomiti Energia, Aira aims to offer customers the "greenest and cheapest" electricity tariff, featuring a variable price structure and a 10% discount on Italy's standard electricity rates. Partnerships with Italian technical institutes, including Politecnico di Milano, have been formed to develop a comprehensive training program.
CEO Martin Lewerth highlights Italy's significance in the decarbonization process, considering its high population and a mere 6% penetration rate of heat pumps. Aira anticipates a positive reception for its innovative home energy solution in Italy, emphasizing consumer cost savings, lifestyle flexibility, and a zero upfront payment model.
