Ashok Leyland Secures ₹982 Crore Order for 2,104 Viking Buses from MSRTC

Ashok Leyland has secured its largest-ever order for fully built buses from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), valued at ₹982 crore. The order includes 2,104 Viking passenger buses, making it a significant milestone for the leading commercial vehicle manufacturer. These modern buses will adhere to the latest Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) standards and feature AIS 153 compliant bodies. They will also be equipped with the proven iGEN6 BS VI OBD II technology, a 197 HP H-Series Engine, and rear air suspension, ensuring a comfortable and efficient ride.

MSRTC, one of India's largest state transport undertakings with a fleet of over 15,000 buses, will see a substantial addition of Ashok Leyland buses following this deal. The manufacturing of these buses will take place at Ashok Leyland’s plants in Alwar and Ennore, with deliveries scheduled to begin in August 2024.

This order underscores Ashok Leyland's commitment to providing state-of-the-art transportation solutions and solidifies its position as a dominant player in the commercial vehicle sector.
