BHP and Lundin Mining to Acquire Filo Corp., Form Joint Venture

BHP and Lundin Mining will acquire Filo Corp., a TSX-listed company, for approximately C$4.1 billion. This acquisition includes the Filo del Sol (FDS) copper project. Both companies will form a 50/50 joint venture to manage the FDS and Josemaria projects in Argentina and Chile. This partnership will drive development in the Vicuña district, aiming for significant economic contributions to Argentina.

BHP’s total payment for this transaction is around US$2.1 billion. The collaboration aligns with BHP’s strategy to invest in early-stage copper projects and leverage Lundin’s local expertise. The joint venture will enhance development efficiency and infrastructure sharing, promoting economic growth.
