Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Launches Operations in Italy

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has expanded its operations by opening a new office in Milan, Italy, a significant move in the European insurance market. This strategic initiative aims to enhance BHSI's presence and offer tailored insurance solutions to local clients. To lead the Italian operations, BHSI has appointed Leonardo Castrichino as country manager, bringing nearly 30 years of experience in the European insurance sector.

Castrichino’s extensive background includes senior roles at various levels, with his most recent position as chief operating officer for the EMEA region at another major insurer. Alongside Castrichino, Marco Vantellino has been appointed as the head of Executive & Professional Lines in Italy. Vantellino has two decades of experience, having previously led Financial Lines for the Mediterranean region at another global insurer.

Other key appointments include Thomas Tasso as head of Property – Energy and Construction, and Nicoló Mussi as head of Commercial and Financial Institutions for Executive and Professional Lines. BHSI’s Europe head, Alessandro Cerase, emphasized the company's commitment to providing sustainable insurance solutions and is optimistic about the potential of its new Italian office. BHSI offers a wide range of insurance products, catering to diverse market needs.
