Canada Goose, the performance luxury brand, has taken a significant step by acquiring the operating assets of Paola Confectii Manufacturing. This move aims to bolster the brand's growing apparel category and signifies its first European facility within a network that already encompasses seven facilities across Canada. This strategic acquisition aligns with the company’s Strategic Growth Plan, focusing on expanding existing categories and ensuring year-round relevance.
Paola Confectii, headquartered in Romania, has been a trusted manufacturing partner for Canada Goose since its inception in 2017. Renowned for producing luxury knitwear, the company has been instrumental in crafting some of Canada Goose's best-selling styles, such as the HyBridge Knit Jacket. Knitwear represents a significant segment of the brand's flourishing Apparel category, which recorded over $70 million in annual sales during fiscal year 2023. This closer association is anticipated to elevate product margins, strengthen supply control, and deepen the brand's in-house product expertise.
Dani Reiss, Chairman and CEO of Canada Goose, highlighted the significance of this investment, stating, “Our vertically integrated supply chain has always been a cornerstone of our operations. This strategic investment not only advances our renowned manufacturing infrastructure but also underscores the performance luxury brand that we embody today. It reflects our confidence in the emerging categories and our commitment to nurturing them as pivotal contributors to our business.”
Canada Goose remains steadfast in its commitment to producing its core down-filled products in Canada. However, the apparel production will predominantly thrive within top-notch European facilities. With the brand's evolution and the introduction of new categories, strategic collaborations with world-class partners from various parts of the globe have been instrumental, aligning with their shared values and dedication to craftsmanship.
Paola Confectii will continue its operations as a standalone entity under the leadership of Giannino Lessi, General Manager, and Paola Zaffalon, Technical Director. This seamless transition ensures continuity in operations and maintains the brand's commitment to excellence in craftsmanship and manufacturing.
