Canadian American Business Council Welcomes New CEO in Leadership Announcement

The Canadian American Business Council (CABC) is excited to announce the appointment of Beth Burke as its new CEO, effective October 1. Beth Burke will succeed Maryscott Greenwood, who has served as the Chief Executive Officer of CABC since 2001, steering the organization into a prominent role in addressing the intricacies of the Canada-US relationship.

Under Maryscott Greenwood's visionary leadership, CABC has led innovative advocacy campaigns like "Travel Like It's 2019" and "Save Nexus," addressing border reopening and trusted traveler programs, respectively. After 23 years at the helm, Greenwood will transition to a global leadership role at Manulife Financial Corporation.

Beth Burke, who has been overseeing US advocacy at CABC for over three years, brings extensive experience from both the House of Representatives and the US Senate. Her past roles also include a Presidential appointment at the Export-Import Bank of the United States during the Obama administration, along with private sector consulting. Her deep political knowledge and private sector insights will be instrumental as CABC continues fostering dialogue between public and private sectors on both sides of the border.

Maryscott Greenwood expressed her confidence in Beth Burke's leadership, emphasizing her political acumen to drive the Council forward. Beth Burke, the incoming CEO, expressed her excitement for this new role and the collaborative opportunities it presents for Canada-US relations.

Nancy Ziuzin Schlegel, CABC Board Chair, extended gratitude to Maryscott Greenwood for her steadfast leadership, positioning the organization as a leading non-profit, non-partisan advocate for Canada-US relations. The future of CABC looks promising, and Beth Burke's leadership will play a pivotal role.

Notable figures like Sonya Savage, former Minister of Energy for Alberta, and Fred Hochberg, former Chair of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, praised Beth Burke's problem-solving skills and ability to unite people.

The Canadian American Business Council, established in 1987, serves as a vital platform for dialogue between public and private sectors in Canada and the US. Its diverse membership includes key business leaders from both countries, collectively employing around two million people with annual revenues nearing $1.5 trillion. CABC remains dedicated to strengthening the Canada-US relationship through informed discourse and collaboration.
