Donaldson to Acquire Stake in Italian Membrane Tech Company Medica

Donaldson Co Inc has announced plans to acquire a 49% stake in Medica SpA, an Italian firm specializing in hollow fiber membrane filtration technology. Medica, headquartered in Medolla, Italy, employs over 700 people worldwide and reported €80 million in revenue for 2023. This technology is crucial for medical device applications, particularly in blood purification for dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapies (CRRT), and therapeutic apheresis.

Additionally, Medica’s products are utilized in microbiological water purification and automation solutions for manufacturing disposable medical devices.Tod Carpenter, Chairman, President, and CEO of Donaldson, emphasized the strategic value of this acquisition, highlighting that hollow fiber membrane filtration is a core technology for Donaldson. He noted that Medica’s advanced technology and manufacturing capabilities have facilitated the delivery of innovative and high-margin products across various markets.
