Dubai has claimed another Guinness World Record with its Hollywood-style Hatta mountain marker. This towering landmark sign perched atop the Hajar Mountains stands at an impressive height of 19.28 meters, surpassing any other of its kind globally. It warmly welcomes visitors to one of the UAE's fastest-developing tourist destinations.
In recognition of this remarkable achievement, Guinness World Records has officially bestowed the title of "Tallest Landmark Sign" upon Dubai Holding's creation. This accolade marks the Hatta sign as an iconic symbol, towering above the famed Hollywood sign, which measures 13.7 meters. Similar to its American counterpart, Dubai's Hatta sign illuminates the night sky, making it a sight to behold.
Reaching this magnificent landmark is an adventure in itself, accessible solely by foot, with a roughly 30-minute hike from Hatta Wadi Hub. Hatta, situated near the Oman border, has already earned its reputation as an adventure getaway, attracting enthusiasts of mountain biking and kayaking, among other exciting activities.
The Hatta Master Development Plan, an integral component of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, outlines ambitious goals to further boost tourism, commerce, and investments in the area. In October 2021, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, unveiled an ambitious vision for Hatta. This visionary plan includes the creation of a beach, a new lake, a cable railway, several hotels, and an extensive 120-kilometer network of bicycle paths.
Subsequently, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, issued directives to establish a supreme committee responsible for overseeing this mega project. In December, Dubai Tourism launched the "The Highlands of Dubai" campaign to spotlight the region's cooler climate and natural beauty, enticing tourists to explore this mountainous exclave.
These ongoing developments in Hatta are aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents and providing unforgettable experiences for visitors. Sheikh Mohammed demonstrated his commitment to the region's prosperity by visiting the Hatta Souq in February. This souq seamlessly blends modern and traditional elements in its design, boasting seven shops, six indoor and seven outdoor kiosks, 42 sales platforms, a large store, eight food carts, a children's playground, outdoor seating, green spaces, prayer rooms for both men and women, and public facilities.
Future plans are already in motion for the highly anticipated Hatta Beach Project. Designed as a year-round tourist destination, this project will feature the Crystal Lagoon, an artificial lake complete with a beach area. Visitors can expect a wide range of leisure and entertainment facilities, shoreline activities, and water sports in this spectacular locale.
