Eni's Plenitude Updates Electric Car Charging Prices in Italy

Plenitude, the low-carbon division of energy conglomerate Eni, is implementing changes to its electric car charging pricing strategy in Italy. The adjustments include an increase in the lowest unit price for electricity and the replacement of existing subscriptions with new packages of discounts and fees, according to official documents.

Eni's Plenitude subsidiary is actively involved in generating power from renewable sources, supplying electricity, gas, and energy services to both households and businesses, and facilitating power solutions for electric vehicles.

While the electric mobility business recorded an adjusted loss of €24 million ($25.2 million) at the EBITDA level last year, it is now poised for pricing adjustments that aim to balance its economic dynamics.

Effective November 1, Plenitude will raise the lowest unit price for electricity, specifically for charging points at alternating current. The new rate will be €0.65 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), up from the previous €0.60 per kWh. The pricing for all charging points utilizing direct current will remain unchanged, ranging between €0.85 and €0.95 per kWh, dependent on the charging speed.

Last year, Plenitude operated a total of 13,093 charging points, with 12,099 designed for alternating current and the remaining for direct current. The majority of these charging points are located in Italy.

Plenitude also communicated to its customers through email that the older monthly subscription models would be phased out in favor of fresh and more flexible pricing packages. These changes aim to accommodate a wider range of customer needs and preferences.

The restructuring of pricing and service offerings demonstrates Plenitude's commitment to adapting to market dynamics and consumer demands in the fast-evolving landscape of electric vehicle charging. It is a step toward enhancing accessibility, affordability, and sustainability in the electric mobility sector.
