Hindustan Zinc Partners with India’s Auto Industry for Sustainable Future

Vedanta group firm Hindustan Zinc has committed to partnering with India's automotive companies to unlock zinc's potential and enhance the country's mobility sector. Zinc's application in the automotive industry, particularly through galvanized steel, provides significant fuel and emission savings by offering a high degree of corrosion resistance to lightweight steel bodies. This ensures durable, long-lasting vehicles with extended anti-perforation warranties against corrosion. Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra emphasized that their zinc solutions are cost-effective, adaptable for complex designs, and environmentally responsible, making zinc a key material for a cleaner, more sustainable future.

The company, which is India's largest and the world's second-largest zinc producer, showcased its extensive product offerings at the fourth Automotive Component Manufacturers' Association (ACMA) Raw Material Conclave & Exhibition. The event highlighted Hindustan Zinc's diverse portfolio, including zinc, lead, silver, and value-added products, with a focus on the benefits of zinc galvanization and zinc die-casting alloys in the automotive sector. Hindustan Zinc has been a long-time upstream partner to the auto industry, supplying metals for various applications such as car bodies, batteries, chips, additional accessories, and corrosion-resistant components. Their commitment underscores their role in driving innovation and sustainability within the automotive industry.
