India-Russia Relations: PM Modi Highlights Mutual Benefits in Moscow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commenced his first official visit to Moscow since the onset of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022. Over the next two days, Modi will engage in high-profile summit talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin to enhance the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia.

The visit marks Modi’s return to Russia since 2019 and his first major diplomatic engagement with President Putin during his third term as Prime Minister. Upon his arrival in Moscow, Modi was welcomed by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, who also accompanied him to his hotel. The visit aims to deepen bilateral relations focusing on key areas such as energy, trade, and defense cooperation. Modi expressed his optimism about strengthening the strategic partnership and highlighted that closer ties between the two nations will bring significant benefits to both countries.

The agenda for the visit includes a private dinner hosted by President Putin and the 22nd India-Russia summit, where both leaders will explore new avenues for collaboration. This high-profile diplomatic engagement seeks to reinforce economic ties, promote strategic interests, and advance mutual growth initiatives. Modi’s visit underscores India’s commitment to a strong and enduring partnership with Russia.
