In a recent statement, Tejas Networks announced its exclusive role as the primary supplier of optical networking and broadband access equipment for FibreConnect's ambitious nationwide fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) rollout across Italy. This comprehensive solution encompasses a wide range of technologies, spanning from DWDM/PTN/OTN for the core infrastructure to xPON and Ethernet for access networks.
FibreConnect, a wholesale telecom infrastructure developer based in Italy, operates with a unique business model that revolves around forming strategic partnerships with regional and retail Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The objective is to extend high-speed broadband services to industrial areas across the country that currently lack the necessary infrastructure. This initiative aligns with the Italian government's 'Transition 4.0' plan, aimed at promoting the digital transformation of the manufacturing sector.
As part of this significant partnership, Tejas Networks has deployed its comprehensive suite of products, including the J1400UCB, which integrates GPON/XGS-PON, Fixed LTE (Long-Term Evolution), and PTN (Packet Transport Network) technologies for access and aggregation. Additionally, Tejas Networks' multi-terabit TJ 2100 series of Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) have been deployed to cater to business and industrial premises.
The entire network is being managed using TejNMS, Tejas Networks' multi-technology network management system, combined with an advanced service orchestration solution.Renzo Ravaglia, the Executive Chairman and CEO of FibreConnect, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing their shared commitment to bridging the digital divide for small and medium-sized businesses in Italy. He also highlighted the goal of extending high-speed connectivity to previously underserved businesses and industries across the country through their ISP partners.
Anand Athreya, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tejas Networks, expressed delight in the decision by FibreConnect to build the entire network in Italy using Tejas Networks' carrier-class optical and broadband access products. He noted that this collaboration underscores the growing confidence among global telecommunications companies in Tejas Networks' capability to design and execute
complex, large-scale networks, spanning from access to the core.
Indranil Sen, the Chief Revenue Officer for the UK and EU at Tejas Networks, viewed FibreConnect's unique business model, coupled with Tejas Networks' expertise in building programmable, next-generation networks, as a potential game-changer for the Italian telecommunications industry. Furthermore, he suggested that this successful partnership could serve as a replicable model in other parts of Europe.
