The relationship between India and Italy appears to be thriving, with both prime ministers fostering a positive rapport.
The momentum in their partnership reached a peak in 2023, following years of concerted efforts. A Plan of Action spanning 2020-2024, initiated in 2020, laid out clear priorities, objectives, and collaboration modalities, laying a robust foundation for expanding bilateral relations across political, economic, and cultural spheres.
A Joint Declaration signed by PM Modi and PM Meloni during her visit to India in March last year elevated Italy-India relations to a "strategic partnership," injecting fresh vigor into cooperation. This partnership enables collaboration in sensitive sectors such as defense, space, cybersecurity, connectivity, mobility, and energy transition. Indeed, 2023 marked a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between Italy and India, reflecting a remarkable year of progress and cooperation.
