Kellanova is making a significant investment of £75 million ($98.3 million) to enhance cereal production at its Wrexham plant in North Wales, the largest single investment in British cereal manufacturing in over 30 years. This expansion will more than double the facility's current output to approximately 1.5 million boxes of cereal daily, making it Europe’s largest cereal manufacturing site. The Wrexham plant, operational since 1978, produces popular brands like Special K, All Bran, Bran Flakes, and Fruit ’n Fibre.
In addition to the production boost, Kellanova plans to consolidate its UK cereal production by moving brands such as Corn Flakes and Crunchy Nut from the Trafford Park plant in Manchester, which is set to close in late 2026. The investment will introduce two new advanced production lines equipped with artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies. These innovations aim to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions by 11% annually while optimizing raw material usage to minimize food waste.
The expansion is also expected to create around 130 new jobs at the Wrexham site and enhance career development opportunities for the existing workforce, further solidifying Kellanova’s commitment to sustainability and efficiency in cereal production in the UK.
