LIDE, the largest business leaders' organization in Latin America, has launched its first office in India. Founded in Brazil in 2003, LIDE represents over 2,000 large-cap companies across 34 economic sectors globally. The new Mumbai office marks LIDE’s 43rd global location and aims to bolster trade relations between Brazil and India. It will act as a bridge for Indian firms to access markets where LIDE operates.
LIDE's office in Mumbai will focus on key sectors including agribusiness, technology, infrastructure, energy, and innovation. This move underscores Brazil's position as India's top trading partner in Latin America, with bilateral trade reaching nearly USD 12 billion in 2023. Joao Doria, Founder and Co-Chairman of LIDE, emphasized that this expansion enhances economic and institutional ties between India and Brazil.
He highlighted the potential for significant growth in bilateral trade as India positions itself to become one of the world's top three economies by 2030. The office is set to provide a platform for natural interactions among private and public sector players, fostering collaboration and responsible economic growth.
