Minister of Tourism Highlights Commitment to Growing Indigenous Tourism

The Government of Canada, alongside the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC), continues to support Indigenous tourism through the $10 million Indigenous Tourism Fund (ITF) Micro and Small Business Stream (MSBS). The latest funding round has awarded $1.01 million to 41 Indigenous tourism businesses across Canada. This is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing Indigenous tourism and promoting economic growth within these communities. Previous rounds of funding included $1.94 million for 78 businesses and $1.67 million for 67 businesses. To date, the MSBS has provided approximately $4.6 million to 186 Indigenous tourism enterprises.

This funding initiative supports businesses in becoming market-ready and ensures their long-term sustainability. By investing in Indigenous tourism, the Canadian government reinforces its commitment to reconciliation and the empowerment of Indigenous communities. This support helps create a vibrant and resilient Indigenous tourism sector that enriches Canada's cultural landscape and offers unique experiences to visitors.
