The primary goal of the Canadian Advisory Council is to support Northern Ireland's trade and foreign direct investment (FDI) strategy. By helping local businesses expand their footprint in Canada, the council aims to create avenues for Canadian firms interested in investing in Northern Ireland. Minister Murphy emphasized the importance of building relationships to attract FDI and support local businesses in increasing exports.
He noted Canada as one of Northern Ireland’s top export markets, making it essential to enhance connections. The council will leverage the expertise of leaders from Canada’s business community to foster partnerships and seize new opportunities. Rodney Hill, the council’s chair, expressed excitement about potential collaborations to strengthen ties between Northern Ireland and Canada.
