Nepal's NICCI Delegation in Italy to Strengthen Bilateral Business Ties

A distinguished delegation representing Nepal, under the leadership of Sanjay Agrawal, President of the Nepal Italy Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), embarked on their historic visit to Italian chambers in Rome and Milan, spanning from September 3 to September 9, 2023.

The purpose of this visit, as stated in a press release, was to forge new pathways for NICCI to engage in dialogues concerning bilateral relations and to explore promising business prospects. The overarching goal was to nurture and strengthen both business and cultural ties between Nepal and Italy, with the firm belief that these endeavors would be mutually advantageous to both nations.

In a groundbreaking development, Nepal actively engaged with two influential Italian chambers: the Rome Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Milan Chamber of Commerce & Industry. These chambers are renowned for their semi-governmental status and are committed to bolstering Italian businesses while ensuring consistency in business policies, regardless of the scale of enterprise.

The press release highlights the immense significance of these meetings, as they formalized NICCI's recognition within Italian government circles and underlined the shared vision for the future, including their alignment with the European Union.

During these encounters, discussions were held with Paolo Nugari, the esteemed Consulate General of Nepal in Rome. With extensive experience in Nepal dating back to 1970, Nugari expressed optimism about Nepal's future and pledged support for NICCI's recognition by the Italian government. This support sets the stage for transformative growth and business prospects.

The press release also notes the success of the meeting with the Milan Chamber of Commerce (PROMOS ITALIA), marking the first instance of such engagement by a private entity from Nepal. Milan Chamber, as Italy's largest and most influential chamber, expressed its eagerness to support NICCI across various dimensions. Milan specializes in export-related businesses, while the Rome Chamber focuses on policy matters and provides technical support.

These meetings encompassed a wide array of topics, including emerging business opportunities. Detailed insights from these discussions are set to be presented at an upcoming NICCI meeting, where Federico Maria Bega, Director (Chief Strategic), will provide comprehensive perspectives and information.
