OBIO® Unveils Nationwide Health Science Tech Training Program Supported by Upskill Canada

The Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization (OBIO®) has initiated a national Health Science Technology Training for Software and Data Professionals program, in collaboration with Upskill Canada. This initiative marks the beginning of industry-centric partnerships aimed at supporting Canadian workers by providing skills training and job placements in some of Canada's most vibrant industries.

This specialized program seeks to aid rapidly expanding health science employers in cultivating digital technologies by addressing their talent requirements. It also endeavors to carve out fresh career paths for individuals seeking to transition into high-demand roles within the health science domain while attracting tech professionals equipped with the requisite expertise to fill these positions.

Approximately 100 participants will undergo upskilling through this program, integrating foundational software skills with industry-specific knowledge, thereby fortifying their prospects for securing positions within the industry. Spanning a period of 14 weeks, the curriculum will encompass diverse topics such as software development tailored for health science, regulatory frameworks pertinent to software as a medical device, data compliance, cybersecurity, AI & machine learning, and essential foundational skills.

Funding sourced from Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada's (ISED) Upskilling for Industry Initiative will benefit over 15,000 Canadian workers, revolutionizing the landscape of skills training through innovative methodologies. At the heart of the Upskill Canada initiative lies the involvement of community training providers, collaborating closely with local and national employers to pinpoint specific skill sets in demand within the industry. Equipping workers with these crucial skills not only forges new career pathways for Canadians but also bolsters the competitiveness of Canadian companies on both domestic and international fronts.
