In a recent development signaling the growth and recruitment endeavors of Global Capability Centers (GCC) in India, Philips, a healthcare company headquartered in the Netherlands, unveiled its state-of-the-art innovation campus in the Embassy business hub located in Yelahanka on November 9.

This expansive 650,000 square-foot campus is designed to accommodate up to 5,000 professionals, marking one of Philips' largest campuses within the country.

During the inauguration ceremony, Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed, "For 27 years, Philips has played a pivotal role in the Karnataka ecosystem. The Bengaluru innovation campus stands as a digital powerhouse, dedicated to shaping healthcare solutions that elevate the lives and well-being of people worldwide."

He emphasized the campus's significant role in steering the company's digital transformation, not just within India but on a global scale. "Karnataka has emerged as a healthcare nucleus in India, boasting a robust environment comprising research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers, and healthcare providers. The state's focus on research and innovation has fueled sector growth, substantially contributing to the state's economy," he added.

The Chief Minister highlighted Karnataka's status as home to several healthcare companies engaged in pioneering technologies aimed at revolutionizing the global healthcare industry. "The startup landscape in Karnataka hosts numerous healthcare and life sciences startups concentrating on innovative solutions, including digital health, personalized medicine, and groundbreaking drug discovery," Siddaramaiah noted.

Illustrating the state's industry-friendly policies, he stated, "Karnataka's government is vigorously enhancing the healthcare ecosystem through renewed technological initiatives, positioning itself as a model state in the health sector. Our initiatives like the Bengaluru Bio-innovation Centre (BBC), Karnataka biotechnology policy, bio-venture funds, instrumental facilities for entrepreneurship, and others are contributing significantly."

Acknowledging Karnataka as a preferred investment destination for both Indian and global multinational companies, he emphasized, "Realigning talent to match current growth trends, providing improved infrastructure, simplifying business procedures, and branding Karnataka as a global innovation hub are our government's priorities."

Highlighting Karnataka's achievements, Siddaramaiah shared, "In 2022, Karnataka secured the 'Top Achiever' rank in ease of doing business (EoDB) nationwide. Our commitment lies in fostering an environment conducive to industry through pro-business policies to attract investment, talent, and opportunities."

Addressing the state's dedication to innovation and business growth, Siddaramaiah mentioned, "We have introduced sector-specific policies in Startup, IT, AVGC, Biotechnology, and ESDM, reinforcing our commitment to streamlining regulatory processes."
