Salik, renowned as the top-performing Dubai toll-gate operator on DFM this year, is embarking on a new revenue stream by partnering with Emaar Malls. This collaboration will revolutionize parking at The Dubai Mall through a 'seamless' parking management system.
The implementation of Salik's technology will facilitate a 'barrier-free' parking experience for patrons of the mall. This innovative system will enable automatic fee collection for ticketless parking, utilizing vehicle plate recognition to deduct fees directly from Salik user accounts, based on business rules defined by Emaar Malls.
What does this mean for shoppers at The Dubai Mall? It promises smoother entry and exit experiences without the need to visit payment collection kiosks or machines.
Set to be operational by Q3-2024, the system's revenue for Salik hinges on the finalization of business rules by Emaar Malls. Salik assumes responsibility for designing, financing, developing, installing, and managing the parking management system at The Dubai Mall.
Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, CEO of Salik Company, emphasized the strategic significance of this project in providing sustainable and smart mobility solutions to drivers in Dubai. He highlighted the company's objective to diversify into complementary revenue streams while ensuring a seamless and convenient customer journey at The Dubai Mall.
The expansion into parking management aligns with Salik's strategy beyond toll-gates, leveraging technology for new revenue prospects. Al Haddad hinted at potential collaborations with marketers and brand owners for targeted promotional messages.
With over 50,000 paid parking slots in Dubai, Al Haddad suggested potential market research to identify further opportunities for expansion in the future.
The collaboration with Emaar Malls signifies a significant step in Salik's growth strategy, potentially deploying similar solutions across other key destinations in the city. The initiative at The Dubai Mall aims to eliminate parking gates or barriers, reducing congestion during peak hours and enhancing the overall customer experience.
The operational process involves plate recognition at entry and exit points, with the Salik system calculating parking fees based on entry and exit times, associating them with Salik accounts, and deducting fees accordingly.
While the current project focuses solely on Dubai Mall, discussions for potential extensions to other malls remain open. Salik's business model promises reduced congestion, enhanced parking efficiency, and a seamless entry/exit experience, offering increased security and accurate tracking without relying on traditional payment machines.
