The UK is set to dispatch its "largest-ever" delegation to the Bengal Global Business Summit

The United Kingdom is set to make history with its participation in the seventh edition of the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), scheduled for November 21-22. This endeavor marks a significant milestone, as the UK assembles its "largest-ever" delegation, a testament to its commitment to fostering economic ties with Bengal, India. The British Deputy High Commission has revealed that a robust 55-member delegation, encompassing a diverse array of businesses and institutions, will actively engage in this pivotal summit held in Kolkata.

Alex Ellis, the British High Commissioner to India, is at the forefront of this strategic initiative and expressed his anticipation in leading this influential delegation. He conveyed his optimism, stating, "I hope the summit will not only provide a platform for British businesses to expand their presence in Bengal but also facilitate companies from Bengal in enhancing their footprint in the UK." This sentiment underscores the mutual benefits envisaged through strengthened economic collaboration between the UK and Bengal.

The participating companies reflect the dynamism of the UK's business landscape, with a notable presence of tech firms and well-established engineering entities. The lineup includes Teknobuilt, AirNode, SmartViz, Xworks Tech, Hy-Met Limited, Cambridge Carbon Capture, and GreenEnco. These firms, spanning various sectors, symbolize the depth and breadth of the UK's innovation and expertise.

Dr. Andrew Fleming, the British Deputy High Commissioner to East and Northeast India, emphasized the commitment to delivering on the promises outlined in the UK-India 2030 Roadmap. This strategic roadmap sets the stage for transforming trade and investment relations between the two nations, with a focus on long-term collaboration and shared economic prosperity.

The decision to assemble such a substantial delegation follows the active participation of 49 senior figures from the UK in the 2022 edition of BGBS. This numerical increase signifies the escalating dedication of the UK to fortify trade collaboration and explore diverse investment opportunities in Bengal. The sustained effort to engage in such high-profile summits underscores the UK's recognition of Bengal's economic potential and its strategic position in the global market.
