UK-based RSK Group has acquired the Irish consulting engineering firm, Jennings O'Donovan, in a deal with undisclosed financial details. Established in 1950 and headquartered in Sligo, Ireland, Jennings O'Donovan employs 100 individuals and specializes in providing services related to renewable energy, water supply, wastewater treatment, and various planning and environmental services to clients, including utilities, developers, local authorities, and industrial entities across Ireland, the UK, Eastern Europe, and beyond. Jennings O'Donovan boasts an annual turnover of approximately €8.2 million.
Alan Ryder, CEO of RSK Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, emphasizing the alignment of Jennings O'Donovan's expertise with RSK's commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He highlighted Jennings O'Donovan's substantial presence in the renewables sector, particularly in wind energy development, with a project portfolio exceeding 2,500 MW of power and an estimated total investment of €3 billion in wind energy upon completion.
Ryder also noted that the acquisition would significantly bolster RSK's operations in the renewables, environmental, and water sectors while diversifying its capabilities. RSK Group, a conglomerate of over 200 individual companies with a global workforce of 12,000, already employs 500 personnel in Ireland.
David Kiely, Director of Jennings O'Donovan, expressed his satisfaction with the merger, emphasizing that the acquisition would not disrupt the firm's operations. He anticipates that becoming part of the RSK Group will provide the necessary support for Jennings O'Donovan's continued growth and development, in line with their commitment to climate action and the low carbon economy.
