Unlocking Italy's Leather Legacy D’Alessandro & Mipel's Journey

Mipel, Italy's renowned leather goods trade show, recently concluded its 125th edition at Milan’s Rho Fiera trade show center from February 18 to 20, marking another successful event. As early as the second day, positive indicators were evident, with exhibitors reporting vigorous activity, including substantial order placements and valuable networking opportunities.

The show serves as a pivotal platform for expanding companies’ client bases, attracting around 10,000 visitors from nearly 100 countries per edition. This year, the event spanned two pavilions, encompassing 8,000 square meters, with 4,000 square meters actively utilized by 200 exhibiting brands. Notable additions to this edition included the introduction of the Travel & Business section, featuring 17 companies—a testament to the show's adaptability and responsiveness to industry trends.

Recognizing the growing significance of the travel and business sector, Mipel dedicated a specific area to accommodate its expansion, aligning with the evolving landscape of luxury and leisure. In 2023, the sector demonstrated stability in revenues, amid various economic challenges and shifting market dynamics.

Danny D'Alessandro, General Director of Assopellettieri, emphasized Mipel's strategic positioning and ongoing evolution, highlighting the resilience of the Italian leather goods sector amidst global uncertainties. Looking ahead, collaborative efforts among industry stakeholders, such as the recent cooperation among multiple trade shows, present opportunities for collective growth and resilience.

As the sector navigates regulatory changes and sustainability imperatives, proactive measures, including embracing eco-design principles and sustainable practices, are imperative. Moreover, investments in education and regional engagement underscore a commitment to long-term viability and innovation within the industry. Mipel's upcoming initiatives, including the inauguration of a new head office in Florence, reflect a dedication to fostering collaboration and advancing industry standards.

In the midst of challenges and transformations, Mipel remains a beacon of excellence and innovation, driving the Italian leather goods industry forward while staying true to its heritage and values.
