Varanasi's locally sourced water chestnuts are poised to make their debut in Gulf markets with the imminent dispatch of their first consignment.
This development follows successful exports of various agricultural products such as mangoes, fresh green vegetables, and marigold flowers.
A senior official from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), a body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, confirmed the forthcoming shipment of the initial 400 kg consignment of water chestnuts to the UAE.
APEDA's chairman, Abhishek Dev, highlighted the significant potential for agricultural product exports from Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to bolster agricultural exports, particularly in the Purvanchal region, focusing on Varanasi, and pledged continued support in this endeavor.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'vocal for local' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative, APEDA has intensified its efforts to promote exports of locally sourced indigenous and traditional agricultural products.
