Verdalia Bioenergy has finalized the acquisition of four additional biomethane plants in Italy, expanding its portfolio in the renewable energy sector. Backed by Goldman Sachs, Verdalia has acquired these plants from Healthy Business Advisory, which are located in Piedmont and Friuli-Venezia. This move follows Verdalia's recent purchase of seven operational plants in Brescia, further solidifying its leadership in Italy's biomethane market.
The newly acquired projects will benefit from Italy's incentive program established by the Ministerial Decree of 15 September 2022. Collectively, these plants have a production capacity of approximately 230 GWh of biomethane, derived from processing 262,000 tons of animal and vegetable biomass annually. This portfolio aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 53,000 tons per year.
The plants are expected to commence operations between late 2025 and mid-2026. Verdalia's partnership with Healthy Business Advisory will continue, supporting the development of these projects to their ready-to-build status. Matteo Grandi, Verdalia's country manager in Italy, highlighted the importance of biomethane in Italy's decarbonization efforts and expressed satisfaction with the progress of this strategic acquisition.
