Vietnam Airlines will become the first airline in Vietnam to offer a non-stop service to Italy, enhancing connectivity between the two nations. Starting July 1, 2025, the airline will operate three weekly flights—on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays—between Hanoi and Milan using a Boeing Dreamliner. This service will increase the airline’s European routes to nine, with plans to introduce a route from Ho Chi Minh City to Milan after 2025.
As the only airline connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to major European cities like Paris, Frankfurt, and London, Vietnam Airlines is expanding its footprint in Europe. In October 2024, Munich will join its growing network of destinations. The Italian market is becoming increasingly important for Vietnam's aviation sector, with 81,000 Italian tourists visiting Vietnam in 2023, which is about 89% of pre-COVID levels.
Additionally, Italian visitors to Vietnam increased by 32% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2019. The new Hanoi to Milan route aims to serve not just Italian travelers but also attract passengers from other European countries. Vietnam Airlines emphasizes that this launch reflects its commitment to enhancing global connectivity and fostering stronger economic and cultural ties between Vietnam and Italy, as well as Europe as a whole.
