Walmart and Costco Join Major Retailers in Signing Grocery Code of Conduct

Walmart and Costco have joined other major retailers in signing the grocery code of conduct, aiming to enhance fairness and transparency in Canada’s grocery supply chain. This milestone agreement, supported by federal, provincial, and territorial agriculture ministers, includes Loblaw, Sobeys, and Metro. Initially hesitant due to cost concerns, Walmart and Costco's participation marks a significant step towards resolving supplier fees issues that emerged in 2020. The House of Commons committee had urged compliance, indicating potential legislation. The agreement is set to bring predictability and fairness to both suppliers and consumers.
