Air France Introduces Remote Bag Drop Service in Paris

Air France Collaborates with Alltheway to Introduce Remote Check-In and Baggage Drop Service for Passengers Departing from CDG

Air France has joined forces with Alltheway to unveil a novel remote check-in and baggage drop-off service, catering to passengers departing from Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in Paris. The initiative aims to provide Air France travelers with a seamless and secure check-in experience while ensuring the swift and reliable transfer of their checked baggage from their chosen location to their flight and eventual destination.

Leveraging the innovative technological solutions offered by Alltheway, a pioneering startup specializing in travel and mobility innovations, Air France passengers can now conveniently arrange for their baggage to be collected from a designated spot prior to their airport journey. Following this, passengers will proceed through customary security protocols at the airport before being reunited with their belongings.

This groundbreaking service builds on Alltheway's successful collaboration with the esteemed hotel chain Accor. Initially accessible at five Accor hotel establishments in Paris—Novotel Tour Eiffel, Mercure Tour Eiffel, Novotel Les Halles, Mercure Montparnasse, and Pullman Bercy—passengers can also avail themselves of baggage collection and drop-off services at three additional locations: Paris Expo Port de Versailles, Villepinte Exhibition Centre, and Palais de Congrès convention center. Moreover, plans are in motion to extend this service to a wider array of locations in and around Paris, encompassing Paris Orly Airport (ORY) flights in the near future.

Engaging with this novel service involves Air France passengers accessing the Alltheway website or mobile app, inputting their flight details, and selecting their preferred collection point from the available options. The service permits pickups ranging from 30 to 4 hours before the flight's departure, contingent upon the distance from CDG. An Alltheway representative will be present at the selected location to facilitate the process.

With an unwavering commitment to safety and security, all baggage is subjected to thorough security checks at various stages, commencing from the collection point and culminating at the airport check-in counter, before being loaded onto the aircraft. Passengers can also actively monitor the journey of their belongings through their personal Alltheway account, enabling swift retrieval in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

Pricing for this service starts at €25 ($27.50) for a single luggage item, with additional bags incurring a charge of €10 ($11) each. However, it is important to note that certain oversized or specialized items like strollers, golf bags, and pet containers are currently not accommodated within the service.

This innovative offering is accessible to all Air France passengers departing from Charles de Gaulle Airport, regardless of their ticket class. Regrettably, the service is not yet available for flights to Tel Aviv (TLV).

The introduction of remote baggage check-in services is an emerging trend embraced by leading airlines. In a similar vein, Singapore Airlines recently inaugurated a comparable service in partnership with AirPortr, enabling travelers flying out of London Heathrow (LHR) to conveniently check in their luggage from their homes prior to their journey with the airline.
