Air France-KLM and Etihad Airways have bolstered their existing collaboration by extending their partnership to include reciprocal benefits within their loyalty programs.
The expansion follows a memorandum of understanding signed in September by the three airlines, outlining a broader codeshare and interline agreement that now encompasses more than 60 routes.
As part of this enhanced partnership, members enrolled in the Flying Blue loyalty program by Air France-KLM and the Etihad Guest program can both earn and redeem miles when traveling on Air France, KLM, or Etihad flights. The airlines have indicated that additional reciprocal benefits for elite members will be revealed shortly.
Angus Clarke, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Air France-KLM, expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration, stating, "I'm very happy to further develop our partnership with Etihad Airways. This 11-year collaboration is now expanding even further as we aim to explore opportunities in loyalty, in addition to enhancing our route network for the benefit of our customers from all around the world.”
Notably, Air France initiated a direct daily service from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Abu Dhabi International Airport in October. Simultaneously, Etihad operates daily flights connecting Abu Dhabi with both Paris Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol.
This partnership evolution marks a strategic move to provide passengers with increased flexibility and benefits within the loyalty landscape. The airlines continue to strengthen their ties, aiming to deliver enhanced services and opportunities for their global customer base.
