U.S. President Donald Trump concluded his Middle East tour with a series of landmark agreements, notably a $1.4 trillion investment commitment from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) aimed at bolstering the U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) sector over the next decade. This agreement includes the construction of the largest AI campus outside the United States in Abu Dhabi, powered by U.S. technology and infrastructure. The initiative is set to provide the UAE with access to up to 500,000 of Nvidia’s advanced AI chips annually, starting in 2025. The deal also encompasses U.S.-managed cloud services and enhanced security regulations aligned with American standards.
Throughout his four-day tour, President Trump visited Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, securing over $2 trillion in economic deals. These agreements span various sectors, including defense, aviation, energy, and technology. In Saudi Arabia, the U.S. secured a $600 billion investment commitment, while Qatar agreed to a $1.2 trillion economic exchange, featuring significant deals in defense and aviation.
President Trump’s strategy during the tour focused on economic collaboration and diplomatic engagement rather than military action, indicating a shift in U.S. policy. He advocated for a realist approach, promoting partnerships that prioritize regional stability and economic growth. This strategy included efforts to ease tensions with former adversaries, such as Syria and Iran, and a focus on fostering relationships with Sunni Gulf states.
The tour also highlighted the UAE's ambition to become a global AI hub, with plans to invest heavily in AI infrastructure and technology. The agreements are expected to create numerous opportunities for U.S. companies and workers, particularly in frontier technologies, aerospace, energy, and critical minerals. The deals underscore the strengthening of U.S.-UAE investment and trade relations, ensuring U.S. security interests and dominance in AI while extending the American tech stack to an important strategic partner.
