Eastman Chemical Company has appointed Ike Adeyemi as its new Chief Legal Officer, succeeding Kellye Walker who departed earlier this year. Adeyemi, who will officially join Eastman on September 9, comes from The Clorox Company where she served as corporate secretary and associate general counsel. At Clorox, Adeyemi managed legal support across various areas including corporate, finance, governance, SEC reporting, ethics, and compliance. Her extensive experience in these roles will be instrumental as she transitions into her new position at Eastman.
Eastman, a Tennessee-based leader in specialty chemicals, materials, and fibers, reported over $9 billion in revenue for 2023. Originally a subsidiary of Kodak, Eastman became an independent company in 1994. Mark Costa, Eastman’s Chair and CEO, praised Adeyemi as a seasoned leader with global experience, noting her ability to deliver strategic business outcomes and her commitment to ethics, diversity, and sustainability.
Adeyemi's career includes significant roles at BHP Billiton and The Clorox Company, following her legal practice at firms like Skadden Arps and White & Case. Walker, her predecessor, moved to Deere & Company after four years at Eastman.
