Emirates Airline Inks Agreements Valued at $1.2 Billion with France's Safran

Emirates has inked a series of contracts totaling $1.2 billion with the French aerospace giant Safran, spanning various products from cutting-edge aircraft seats to wheels.

The agreements encompass a substantial $1 billion deal, based on list prices, covering business, premium economy, and economy class seats for Emirates' upcoming A350 and 777X-9 jets, as well as its existing Boeing 777-300 fleet. Additional contracts involve cabin equipment, wheels, carbon brakes, landing gear component repairs, retrofitting, and maintenance support. Emirates President Tim Clark emphasized the collaborative effort to innovate and enhance future cabins with smart design and advanced technology.

The significance of these agreements extends beyond Emirates, contributing to the aviation manufacturing sector and the broader value chain across France and Europe. Safran CEO Olivier Andries expressed enthusiasm for the continued growth facilitated by these agreements, emphasizing a forward-looking perspective.

Apart from seats, Safran Cabin will supply galley shipsets for Emirates' A350 fleet. Safran Landing Systems will provide wheels and carbon brakes for the Emirates A350 fleet, offering notable weight savings and improved cooling for enhanced operational efficiency.

Safran Passenger Innovations will contribute its RAVE AeroConnect Ka solution for in-flight connectivity on Emirates flights. Beyond the new fleet, Safran is actively engaged in Emirates' ongoing retrofit program, including the provision of new seats for the Boeing 777 and Airbus A380.

Safran Landing Systems secures an exclusive role in overhauling the nose landing gear on the A380 fleet. Additionally, Emirates has entered a 10-year agreement with Safran Aerosystems, covering repair and maintenance for Boeing 777 safety and cabin systems components. Safran Aerosystems' base near Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai is set to provide maintenance services, further optimizing Emirates' operational efficiency.
