France Commits to Supporting Middle Corridor Development

During the Kazakhstan-France Business Forum in Astana, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his commitment to contributing to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor.

Macron emphasized the strategic role of Kazakhstan as a bridge connecting Europe and Asia, underlining the importance of fostering partnerships through transportation routes, with a primary focus on the Middle Corridor.

The French President also commended Kazakhstan's ambitious goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 and offered assistance in this endeavor.

Furthermore, Macron highlighted the extensive collaboration opportunities in the agri-food sector, with a focus on ensuring food security.

The Middle Corridor is a multilateral institutional project that connects containerized rail freight transport networks between the People's Republic of China and the European Union. It traverses Central Asia, the Caucasus, Turkey, and Eastern Europe, linking Caspian and Black Sea ferry terminals with rail systems in multiple countries, including China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Poland.

The Middle Corridor facilitates increased freight traffic from China to Turkey, European nations, and in the reverse direction. Notably, cargo transported along this corridor reaches Europe from China in just 20 to 25 days, making it a crucial transportation route.
