At the 13th Kazakh-French Business Council meeting held on Nov. 4 in Paris, Kazakhstan and France solidified their partnership with 24 significant agreements. These include 12 interdepartmental agreements and 12 commercial contracts valued at $2.2 billion. The deals underscore the countries' commitment to mutual growth and cooperation across various sectors, as highlighted by Kazakh Invest National Company’s press release.
Gabidulla Ospankulov, Chairman of the Investment Committee of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry, emphasized the vast potential for joint projects between the two nations. To date, there are 31 collaborative initiatives worth $4.4 billion covering industries like mechanical engineering, petrochemicals, agriculture, medicine, and pharmaceuticals. These projects aim to enhance industrial productivity, drive innovation, and support sustainable development in both countries.
Kazakhstan is also exploring new opportunities in nuclear energy. Ospankulov noted that the country plans to collaborate with Orano, a prominent French company, for expertise and technology in uranium extraction, which will boost Kazakhstan's uranium mining industry. Additionally, Électricité de France (EDF) could play a role in Kazakhstan’s future nuclear power initiatives, as both parties discuss forming a consortium to bring advanced nuclear technology to the country.
In addition to energy, the council meeting included a healthcare roundtable, discussing partnerships in preventive and innovative healthcare projects. This reflects a comprehensive approach to deepening ties, covering a broad range of vital sectors.
The meeting was held as part of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to France, underscoring the countries’ commitment to strengthening trade and investment relations. These agreements are expected to foster long-term economic growth, technological advancements, and a robust partnership between Kazakhstan and France.
