India celebrated its 76th Republic Day with grand celebrations at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, led by President Droupadi Murmu. This year’s event emphasized 75 years of the Constitution's enactment and the theme of Jan Bhagidari, reflecting India’s cultural diversity, unity, and military strength. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was the Chief Guest, witnessing the vibrant celebrations alongside thousands of spectators.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio extended his wishes to India on Republic Day, highlighting the growing partnership between the two nations. Rubio emphasized the enduring significance of India's Constitution as the foundation of the world's largest democracy. He expressed optimism about the future of India-US cooperation, particularly in areas like space research and the Quad initiative, which aims to foster a free and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
Rubio’s message reinforced the strategic importance of the India-US relationship, calling it a defining partnership of the 21st century. He acknowledged India’s role in shaping global affairs and expressed confidence in advancing mutual interests across various sectors. His statement also underlined the shared values of democracy and collaboration between the two nations.
The Republic Day parade featured impressive displays of India’s military capabilities, cultural heritage, and technological advancements. The government’s focus on increasing public participation in national events was evident, with around 10,000 guests attending the event.
This Republic Day marked a significant moment as it was the first celebration under the new administration of US President Donald Trump, who assumed office on January 20. The India-US relationship continues to evolve with a focus on strategic alliances, economic growth, and regional stability.
