In a recent event following a Christmas celebration organized by Airbus Atlantic in France, approximately 100 employees reported falling ill due to a suspected food-borne illness contracted during the company's festive lunch. While the specific culprit responsible for the illness wasn't explicitly disclosed by the Airbus Atlantic spokesperson, it was confirmed that none of the affected employees experienced severe complications, and they all resumed their work routines in the subsequent week.
However, conflicting figures emerged regarding the number of individuals affected. While Airbus Atlantic acknowledged around 100 cases, French health authorities purportedly indicated a significantly higher count, suggesting that more than 700 employees dealt with symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, as per reports from BBC News.
Airbus Atlantic, established in 2022 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Airbus, operates across five countries and three continents, boasting a workforce of 13,000 individuals. The company has a manufacturing plant situated in Santo Tirso, Portugal.
The spokesperson assured that French health authorities are leading the investigation to pinpoint the cause of the illness. Despite the discrepancy in reported numbers, the incident is being treated as an isolated occurrence, with the spokesperson expressing confidence in the employees' ongoing recovery.
Furthermore, the spokesperson emphasized Airbus Atlantic's unwavering commitment to prioritizing employee well-being and affirmed their complete cooperation with health agencies to not only identify the root cause of the illness but also to implement measures that prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. This dedication underscores the company's ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for its workforce across all locations.
