Unions representing Apple's workforce in France have initiated a strike scheduled for both Friday and Saturday, just ahead of the iPhone 15 launch. The main demands include improved pay and better working conditions.
In a statement shared on a social media platform (formerly Twitter, now X), CGT Apple Retail, a prominent labor union, announced, "Due to management's failure to address our entirely valid requests and concerns, all four unions representing Apple Retail France have jointly called for a strike scheduled for September 22 and 23."
The unions have additionally called upon workers to gather for a demonstration on Friday morning at the Paris Opera Garnier, located near one of Apple's flagship stores in Paris.
Karine Chouchane, a member of the CGT Apple Retail union, informed the French Daily Liberation that employees from Apple France might mobilize in approximately three-quarters of Apple's stores across France.
As of now, Apple France has not provided an immediate response or comment on the situation.
This development follows a recent decision by the French government to halt the sale of iPhone 12 devices due to alleged violations of radiation exposure limits. In response, Apple pledged to update the software on iPhone 12 units in France to address the radiation level concerns. However, concerns in other European countries have raised the possibility of similar actions being taken in those regions.
