Takara Sake USA Teams Up with New York Mets for Citi Field Sake Experience

The nation's leading premium sake producer, Takara Sake USA, and the New York Mets have joined forces to introduce Japanese sake to fans at Citi Field in Queens, N.Y. This groundbreaking partnership will feature MIO Sparkling Sake, renowned as the world's top-selling sparkling sake, as the stadium's inaugural sake offering.

Yutaka Eto, Takara's Vice President/Director of Sales and Marketing, expressed enthusiasm for becoming the New York Mets' first official sake sponsor, underscoring the franchise's historical significance within the vibrant Queens community. The collaboration aims to celebrate the shared tradition of baseball in the U.S. and Japan by introducing sake, an iconic Japanese beverage, to the esteemed venue of Citi Field.

With sake's global appeal on the rise, MIO Sparkling Sake, crafted by Takara's brewery in Nada, Japan, has attracted a diverse following. Its modern, crowd-pleasing style perfectly aligns with Citi Field's eclectic culinary offerings, recognized as the winner of the 2023 USA TODAY 10 Best Readers' Choice travel award contest for Best Stadium Food.

Throughout the ballpark, guests can enjoy MIO Sparkling Sake at the Piazza 31 Club, Hudson Whiskey NY Club, Pat LaFrieda's Chop House, and various suites. Moreover, digital ads across the concourse and stadium will spotlight MIO, while fans can partake in tastings during select games. The New York Mets will also showcase MIO Sparkling Sake and Takara on Instagram.

With over forty years of experience, Takara has pioneered the sake industry in the U.S., offering a diverse portfolio under the Sho Chiku Bai brand, alongside HANA Flavored Sake, Takara Mirin, Kinsen Plum Wine, and more. Takara also supplies sake to food manufacturers and exports to Asia, Europe, and South America, while importing artisanal sake and shochu from its sister breweries and distilleries in Japan, including Sho Chiku Bai – Shirakabegura, home of the celebrated MIO Sparkling Sake.
