France is currently facing a luxury problem: a scarcity of venues to accommodate the multitude of shows eager to tour and the vast number of fans eager to purchase tickets. As the hosts of the 2024 Summer Olympics, the country's primary entertainment structures have significantly limited availability for other live entertainment formats, despite the unprecedented variety of options.
Matthieu Drouot, CEO of Gérard Drouot Productions, emphasizes the diverse range of entertainment, including not only rock and hip-hop but also family-friendly fare like musicals. With an influx of international artists, such as Fally Ipupa from Congo, performing across France, there's a warm reception for musical diversity.
Live Nation France CEO Angelo Gopee acknowledges the challenges posed by the Olympics but remains optimistic about the industry's prospects. Despite restricted access to certain venues, regional markets continue to thrive, with events like the Main Square Festival selling exceptionally well.
The Paris La Défense Arena, Europe's largest indoor stadium, faces a busy schedule accommodating both Olympic events and concerts. CEO Frédéric Longuépée expects significant attendance, attributing it largely to the concert business, which has seen a surge in demand following the pandemic.
Nicolas Dupeux, CEO of Paris Entertainment Company, highlights the company's role in hosting and producing Olympic events, showcasing their expertise in event management and production.
Despite the success of major events, smaller shows are experiencing some challenges. Some promoters foresee market corrections due to economic factors, suggesting that sustained high ticket prices may not be viable in the long term.
