The US is reaffirming its commitment to India's clean energy transition, focusing on collaborations in solar and wind power, energy storage, and grid modernization. Jonathan Heimer, Minister Counsellor for Commercial Affairs at the US Foreign Commercial Service, highlighted the substantial opportunities for partnership between the two countries at the second Energy Summit of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce. Heimer emphasized that American businesses are actively supporting India’s clean energy goals and noted the strong presence of US companies in India’s energy sector.
Carrie Antal, Deputy Director of the Indo-Pacific Office at USAID, underscored the global interest in India’s economic growth and clean energy advancements. She outlined the historical partnership between USAID and India, which includes past collaborations on green initiatives, public health, and education. Antal emphasized that US and Indian cooperation extends to achieving sustainable development goals globally and that innovations from India have the potential to drive global progress.
Lalit Bhasin, past national president of the IACC, highlighted the need to balance climate change challenges with economic development, particularly for emerging economies like India. He stressed the importance of addressing both environmental and economic goals simultaneously to ensure sustainable growth.
