US and India Strengthen Strategic Partnership with Shared Commitment

The United States and India reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership during high-level discussions in Washington, DC. The External Affairs Minister of India attended the US Presidential inauguration on January 20, 2025, as the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy. Bilateral talks covered key areas, including security, defence cooperation, technology, energy, education, and legal mobility. While no formal agreements were signed, both sides emphasized deepening collaboration in critical and emerging technologies to enhance economic growth and regional stability.

The discussions highlighted the growing strategic alignment between the US and India, focusing on shared priorities in trade, investment, and innovation. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh confirmed that while no specific agreements were concluded, the engagement reinforced efforts to strengthen ties across multiple sectors. This collaboration is expected to drive advancements in economic and technological cooperation.

On January 21, 2025, the Quad Foreign Ministers convened in Washington, DC, reaffirming their commitment to a Free and Open Indo-Pacific. The ministers emphasized upholding international law, sovereignty, and territorial integrity while expressing strong opposition to unilateral actions that seek to change the status quo by force or coercion.

The Quad partners explored opportunities for deeper cooperation in maritime security, economic resilience, and technology. They committed to enhancing reliable supply chains and advancing the Quad’s initiatives in preparation for the 2025 Quad Leaders’ Summit, which will be hosted by India. These discussions mark a significant step in strengthening US-India relations and reinforcing broader regional security and economic stability through strategic partnerships.
