Maruti Suzuki India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to promote cross-border collaboration between Indian and Japanese startups. Mr. 2.Hisashi Takeuchi, the Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, was present when the signing was made.

The MoU aims to connect startups from both nations with each other’s innovation ecosystems, opening up new opportunities for business expansion, networking, and technological collaboration. Through this agreement, Indian startups will be able to explore Japan’s innovation landscape, while Japanese startups will gain access to India’s growing startup ecosystem.

Startups chosen through the Accelerator, Incubation, Mobility Challenge, and Nurture innovation programmes of Maruti Suzuki will be able to take part in collaborative events and networking activities that JETRO and Maruti Suzuki organise. Similarly, Japanese startups will be introduced to the Indian market through JETRO’s initiatives. This partnership is expected to enhance mutual learning, market access, and business development.

Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi noted that Maruti Suzuki has already been working closely with Indian startups to co-create solutions in automobile manufacturing and mobility. With the new MoU, these startups will now have the chance to venture into Japan’s business environment.

Mr. Takashi Suzuki of JETRO India highlighted Maruti Suzuki as a model of India-Japan collaboration. He said the MoU would boost innovation and strengthen economic ties between the two countries. Over the past six years, Maruti Suzuki’s innovation programs have screened over 5,000 startups, engaged with 150, and onboarded 25 as business partners. This MoU reinforces the commitment to supporting innovation on a global scale.
