Japan Business Leaders Meet PM Modi to Strengthen Trade Relations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with a high-powered delegation from the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (Keizai Doyukai) to strengthen bilateral trade, enhance investment opportunities, and foster collaboration in key sectors. The delegation, led by chairperson Takeshi Niinami and 20 other business leaders, shared insights on deepening economic cooperation between India and Japan.

The talks covered vital sectors, including agriculture, marine products, space, defence, insurance, technology, infrastructure, civil aviation, clean energy, nuclear energy, and MSME partnerships. Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to providing a business-friendly environment under the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. He emphasized the "Japan Plus" system, designed to facilitate and fast-track Japanese investments in India.

Modi assured Japanese investors of India’s transparent, predictable, and policy-driven governance. He highlighted the rapid expansion of India's aviation sector, mentioning the construction of new airports and enhanced logistics infrastructure. Additionally, he discussed India's significant role in artificial intelligence (AI), encouraging Japanese collaboration in this transformative field.

India’s progress in green energy, particularly biofuels, was another key topic. Modi emphasized the agricultural sector’s potential benefits from biofuels, positioning India as a leader in sustainable energy solutions. The Japanese delegation expressed optimism about future collaborations and the strengthening of business and investment ties between the two nations.

Takeshi Niinami praised India-Japan relations under Modi’s leadership, recognizing immense investment opportunities for Japanese businesses in India. Tanakaa Shigehiro of NEC Corporation acknowledged Modi’s clear vision for Japanese industry participation in India's growth. The delegation reiterated their support for India's 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision, aiming for a mutually beneficial economic partnership. The meeting reinforced the long-standing economic and strategic ties between India and Japan, paving the way for future business collaborations.
