Tajikistan and Japan discussed key preparations for the upcoming Central Asia-Japan Summit during a meeting between Sirojiddin Muhriddin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, and Akihisa Nagashima, the Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan. The discussion focused on various issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, with an emphasis on strengthening ties across multiple sectors, including trade, economy, agriculture, energy, transport, tourism, education, and ecology.
The two sides highlighted the role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, noting its importance in advancing mutually beneficial initiatives. This commission plays a critical role in enhancing bilateral relations, with both countries expressing interest in further developing their partnership to tackle global challenges.
In addition to economic cooperation, the talks covered cultural and humanitarian exchanges. Japan’s participation in the International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation in Dushanbe was underscored, as well as Tajikistan’s planned involvement in the EXPO-2025 World Exhibition in Osaka. These cultural and educational initiatives are expected to strengthen people-to-people ties between the two nations, fostering deeper understanding and collaboration.
