Waseda University's Faculty of Sport Sciences recently celebrated a significant milestone through a Departmental Agreement signing ceremony with Seoul National University, solidifying collaborative efforts between the two esteemed institutions. Following this auspicious occasion, Senior Dean Hirotaka Matsuoka, a distinguished figure in the field and deputy leader of the Top Global University project's Health Promotion Unit, imparted a captivating lecture to the local students. Titled "Current Issues in the Japanese Sports Business," Professor Matsuoka's presentation was delivered to an engaged audience comprising students from Seoul National University's Department of Physical Education, College of Education, alongside approximately 30 international attendees from diverse backgrounds.
The lecture fostered an interactive atmosphere, evidenced by the spirited exchange during the subsequent Q&A session, where participants posed insightful inquiries reflecting a keen interest in Japan's sports business landscape. Following this intellectually stimulating discourse, the delegation engaged in enriching research exchange meetings and a comprehensive campus tour. Associate Professor Jaebum Park, specializing in Human Biomechanics, Professor Yongho Lee, focusing on Rehabilitation Movement for the Elderly and Disabled, and Associate Professor Hyoyoul Moon, whose expertise lies in Exercise Biochemistry, showcased their pioneering research endeavors. Additionally, students from their respective labs actively participated in the discussions, further enhancing the collaborative atmosphere.
The tour concluded with visits to notable facilities including an indoor golf practice facility, a student gym, and a state-of-the-art gymnastics arena, offering a holistic glimpse into the university's dynamic environment and commitment to advancing sports sciences
