Japanese internet finance group SBI Holdings and global asset manager Franklin Templeton have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish an asset management joint venture in Japan. According to SBI's statement, the new venture will be jointly owned by SBI with a 51% stake and Franklin Templeton holding 49%. This partnership aims to offer a variety of investment products, including digital asset securities, to Japanese investors.
Franklin Templeton has been actively expanding its digital asset offerings. In January, the company launched a spot bitcoin ETF in the U.S. and has introduced other investment products based on blockchain technology. This joint venture with SBI Holdings is expected to leverage Franklin Templeton's expertise in digital assets and blockchain, providing innovative investment opportunities to the Japanese market. The collaboration underscores a strategic move to cater to the growing demand for digital asset securities and blockchain-based investment products in Japan.
