Sri City's Potential Leaves Japanese Minister Impressed

 

A delegation of high-ranking officials from the Embassy of Japan in India, led by Economic and Development Minister Kyoko Hokugo, conducted a thorough visit to Sri City on Thursday to assess the available infrastructure within the Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Senior officials from Sri City, including Satish Kamat, President (Operations), warmly welcomed the delegation. R Shivshankar, Senior Vice-President (Marketing), provided a detailed briefing on the infrastructure and distinctive features of the expansive industrial park.

During the briefing, the advantages of establishing a manufacturing unit in Sri City were emphasized, along with insights into the financial incentives offered by the state government. The delegation, which included First Secretaries Masahiro Kawakami and Suzuki Junichiro, and Naoko Yuzawa, Consul at the Consulate-General of Japan in Chennai, expressed satisfaction with the existing infrastructure and the strategic advantages of Sri City.

Kyoko Hokugo commended the potential of Sri City, stating, "We are impressed with the potential of Sri City and happy to witness the brisk development in Sri City, which is the ‘favoured’ industrial park in India for Japanese companies."

Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Managing Director of Sri City, highlighted the conducive business atmosphere, exceptional infrastructure, skilled workforce, and governmental support that contribute to Sri City being recognized as the second-largest Japanese Industrial Township in the country. He expressed confidence that the positive business environment, coupled with Sri City's unique features, would attract increased investments.

The delegation engaged in an interactive discussion with the CEOs of several Japanese enterprises based in Sri City. The visit aimed to personally observe the industrial park's features, assess business prospects, and explore the feasibility of Japanese investments. The members of the delegation showed keen interest during the briefing session and toured the campus to witness the existing infrastructure. Sri City's ecosystem, fostering supply chain firms and supporting Japanese OEMs, was highlighted as a key factor contributing to the success and appeal of the industrial park.
