This special dialogue served as a commemoration of the 50th year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, reinforcing the commitment to fostering strong ties.
During this dialogue, ministers from both ASEAN and Japan reaffirmed their dedication to advancing sustainable tourism and facilitating mutual exchanges. Key topics on the agenda encompassed regional tourism standards, inclusivity in tourism, stakeholder involvement, and the development of human resources within the industry.
Moreover, discussions revolved around plans to explore opportunities for Thailand's involvement in tourism initiatives initiated by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). These discussions aimed to strengthen Thailand's position in the global tourism landscape.
Thailand's Tourism and Sports Minister, Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, accompanied by the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, led a Thai delegation at the ASEAN-Japan Tourism Ministers' Special Dialogue on October 28, 2023, in Tokyo. Minister Sudawan highlighted Thailand's unwavering commitment to sustainable tourism and outlined various strategic initiatives designed to achieve this goal on a regional scale.
