TotalEnergies Achieves Over 1,000 High-Power Charging Stations Milestone in France

During the inauguration of TotalEnergies' fifth 100% electric service station, Relais Garibaldi in Lyon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Pouyanné proudly announced a significant achievement. TotalEnergies has successfully installed and now operates a network of over 1,000 high-power chargers (HPC) for electric vehicles across France. This milestone firmly establishes TotalEnergies as the leading provider of ultra-fast charging solutions on the nation's motorways and expressways.

As part of its comprehensive strategy to support the growth of electric mobility, TotalEnergies has already deployed HPC charging points at more than 180 service stations throughout France. Their ambitious target for 2026 is to expand this network to encompass 500 stations, strategically distributed as follows:

  • 200 stations along main roads and corridors, including motorways and bypasses.
  • 300 stations situated in urban areas, peri-urban zones, and transit hubs such as airports, train stations, and tourist zones. One-third of these will be entirely electric, mirroring the model of the Lyon station inaugurated on this occasion, along with others in Paris-La Défense, Metz, Courbevoie, and Rouen.

High-power charging (HPC) technology enables compatible electric vehicles to recharge at a power level exceeding 50 kW, reaching up to an impressive 300 kW. Depending on the vehicle type, this level of power can restore a range of 100 kilometers in just 6 minutes, and approximately 80% of the battery can be recharged in around 20 minutes.

TotalEnergies remains committed to delivering a seamless and enjoyable customer experience for electric vehicle drivers. Their HPC stations feature comfortable waiting areas equipped with sanitary and catering facilities, WiFi access, and support for a variety of payment methods. Furthermore, station staff will be present to greet customers and provide any necessary assistance.

Commenting on this significant achievement, Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, emphasized the company's dedication to facilitating the transition of French households towards electric mobility. He stated, "By installing 1,000 HPC chargers, TotalEnergies has demonstrated its commitment to help French households transition to electric mobility. With close to 250 stations equipped by end-2023, TotalEnergies will offer customers ultra-fast charging every 100 kilometers in cities and on motorways, consolidating its position as a leader in this segment in France."

In addition to its service stations, TotalEnergies operates approximately 18,000 charging points throughout France, spanning local municipalities, corporate fleets, peri-urban locations, parking facilities, and private residences. This extensive network further contributes to the advancement of electric mobility across the country.
